Schema.org's definition is short: "A web page." It adds that "Every web page is implicitly assumed to be declared to be of type WebPage", and recommends explicit declaration when you add properties such as breadcrumb. Choose the subtype that matches the page's purpose: CollectionPage for lobbies and sport hubs, AboutPage for company pages, ContactPage for contact pages, ProfilePage for author pages. Use mainEntity for the one thing the page is about, such as the game on a game page.
Mistakes to avoid
- Dates in markup that differ from the visible dates.
- FAQPage used as a general page type for pages without a visible FAQ.
- Several WebPage nodes for one page with conflicting names.
Questions
Does WebPage markup create a rich result?
No. It describes the page and links it to the site, the breadcrumb and the main entity.
Which subtype fits a casino lobby?
CollectionPage, because the page lists many games.
